Estilos parentais, competências sociais e o papel mediador da personalidade em adolescentes e jovens adultos

Resumo


As vivências afetivas experienciadas no seio familiar têm um papel privilegiado no desenvolvimento dos jovens. A presente investigação teve como objetivo analisar o efeito dos estilos parentais no desenvolvimento das competências sociais e testar o papel mediador da personalidade. A amostra incluiu 1976 jovens com idades entre os 14 e os 25 anos. Os resultados apontam que a empatia, a assertividade e o autocontrolo são preditos positivamente pelo estilo democrático e que a assertividade e o autocontrolo são preditos negativamente pelo estilo permissivo. Os dados sugerem o efeito mediador positivo da personalidade emocionalmente ajustada na associação do estilo democrático e as competências sociais, e um efeito mediador negativo entre o estilo permissivo e determinadas competências socias.
